The Green Party is running two tick campaigns across Aotearoa in hopes of getting more seats in parliament.

List MPs Chlöe Swarbrick in Auckland Central, Ricardo Menendez March in Mt Albert, Julie Anne Genter in Rongotai, and Tamatha Paul in Wellington Central, are all pushing for their respective electorates.

Historically, the Auckland electorate of MT Albert has always been held by a Labour MP and has been the electorate of two Labour prime ministers, Helen Clark and Jacinda Ardern.

Green Party co-leader James Shaw told Emilia Sullivan on 95bFM's The Wire that he believes the Greens can nab some of the seats currently being held by the Labour Party.

“All of the places where we are looking at running; Rongotai, Wellington, Auckland Central, Mt Albert, those are all very strong Green Party vote seats for us with great candidates, and there are no incumbents, so it is an open race”.

The Green Party has only won two electorate seats in the history of the party, Chlöe Swarbrick in Auckland Central and Jeanette Fitzsimons in the Coromandel.
