Ep. 256 with Grecco Romank

Auckland trio Grecco Romank release their album Red Tower as a download, cassette, and exclusive perfume. The album was created in the South Island, written in a farmhouse during lockdown and recorded at an abandoned primary school during lambing season. We celebrate the release with a heartfelt journey through lost New Beat, one hit wonders, and Aotearoa avant garde, peppered throughout with recordings of riots and office arguments.

Ep. 254 with Kraus + Coach Matt from JEROME Worldwide.

Kraus is one of the most quietly important and interesting figures in Aotearoa electronic music. Since 2002, he has released 18 albums, including his latest Chocolate, Candy, Love and Dreams.
Ahead of his live performance at Catacombs, he he gifts us an hour of his current musical obsessions, from Turkish fuzz disco to headspinning FM synth kaleidoscopes.

After that, we hear from Coach Matt, head of Philadelphia label JEROME Worldwide. Matt founded JEROME Worldwide in 2016 to push music unbounded by genre or popularity. Since then, they have had a ton of releases, including some by previous FPR guests BLEID and Lorica/Avbvrn. We hear an hour of favourites and secret heaters.

Otto Vlotto is one of the progenitors of footwork in NZ, and Midi Waters has spent 25+ years in the trenches of dance music. Midi Waters starts off the show with some summer dancefloor heaters. The duo then go cheek-to-cheek for a bit, before Otto Vlotto gets into some hard tekkaz. It's two hours of blisteringly good music bbs.

Ep. 250 with Roger Perry

It's time for the sixth annual NZ music special on FPR. This time, we hand over the keys to the legendary Roger Perry.

Roger Perry has been fighting the good fight for nearly 40 years. He started DJing in 1984 at the Venue, an all ages club run by Russ Le Roq (Russell Crowe). From there, he went on to run Asylum, where New Zealand audiences were first introduced to house music. He hosted NZ's first dance music radio show, Asylum FM on bFM. He has also made some masterful music as Reactor Music, Kingsland Housing Project, and Toolbox. His one-take mix for us tonight is a canvassing of house music in Aotearoa, from peerless classics to killer cuts from the new school.

Ep 247 with Ranma Entero + Ngaru & Hunter

Ranma Entero is the alias of Mexican producer and DJ Sergio Tellez. We celebrate his recent Ipecacuana EP with an hour spanning a variety of styles, tempos, and moods from artists both in Mexico and further abroad.

Ngaru & Hunter are no strangers to the dance scene in Tamaki Makaurau; as regular attendees to plenty of club nights, they've been listening for years. Their mix for us marks the first of many to come as two more music-lovers make the jump into the community they've admired for so long.
