Rahui radio ! Plenty of brand enw tunes including the new Bob Dylan 17 minuter, locals Kathy Bates Motel and Emily Fairlight. New gospel vibes from Dori Freeman and The Blue Hens. Brand stonking new Eastbound Jesus, Drive by Truckers, Slow Motion Cowboys and White Owl Red. Tickle in some Songhoy Blues, because I can, and fang out a bit of old school trad with Mike Ness and that one-off, forever favorite Good & Dead.

Kirsten marks the sad passing of American folk music legend John Prine, playing lots of his songs and songs by people he influenced. There was a presidential condolence from the president of the Republic of Ireland. Roseanne Cash quotes from John Prine's great song "Angel From Montgomery": "Just give me something I can hold onto."  A terrible loss. A lot of great music. He was dealt a rough hand by the Trump administration, passing away from complications of the coronavirus. Thanks for the decades of great songs. RIP.

Tamla Motown with a seasoning of blues, folk and country. Kirsten pays tribute to the passing of Roger Giles, stalwart of the Auckland folk scene for decades, generous friend to so many musicians, and determinedly himself on all occasions, blowing on his jug and adding to festival atmosphere wherever he went, he will be much missed.

Absolute chaos around the radio station with the university demolition/rebuild and the laneway site set up making access and parking not very practical. So rode in on my bike and raided the bFM vinyl and CD racks and played a few off the computer system as well. If you liked Border Radio in the 1980's, you're going to like this.
