n 2010 the New Zealand Special Air Service undertook Operation Burnham, a joint military operation seeking to target several insurgents within the Taliban forces at the time.
The operation became the subject of the book Hit & Run, authored by Nicky Hager and John Stephenson alleging that the operation caused multiple civilian deaths and should be considered a war crime.
Over the past five years, the New Zealand Defence Force has pushed back against the claims, however an inquiry by the new labour government in 2017 proved many of the Journalists claims. Now the Chief Ombudsman is re-opening an independent inquiry into the case, and Liam Hansen brought Nicky Hager on the show to speak about the latest inquiry.

Tim serves up a delicious scoop, solves the mystery money of The Platform, and opens a big can of media worms about the CEO of the New Zealand Film Commission. Whakarongo mai.
Correction: While it has been made known by the NZFC itself to the industry that the NZFC CEO has received development funding from NZ on Air, there is currently no evidence that he has applied for funding from his own agency. Tim offers a retraction and apologises.
This weekend on FPR, we air a takeover from Naarm-based angels Tyler and Bel.
Tyler and Bel are visual artists and selectors with an unboundaried approach to sound and era. They both have shows on Mouthfull - Tyler hosts the weekly broadcast Semi-Precious, whereas Bel hosts an infrequent show titled Some Times. On Episode 306, they share two mixes - the first explores music recorded in Denmark and Sweden between 1969 - 2022; the second captures music for dance and theatre.
On Dear Science this week we introduced a very special new co-host: Dr Joel Rindelaub from the University of Auckland, who is taking the reins from Marcus Jones.
This week Joel chatted to Christina and Emily about air pollution and gut health, diamond rain on icy planets, and the complex social structures that dolphins can form, which can apparently get quite freaky!

Radio New Zealand announced earlier this week that it would consider deleting its account on Twitter after a new label has been given to its account. Twitter has labelled the government-funded independent broadcaster a “government-funded media” label.
RNZ says they receive around forty-eight million dollars in funding each year from the government through New Zealand On Air, but RNZ said in a recent Twitter post that their editorial independence is enshrined in their charter and editorial policy. State media outlets affiliated with the Chinese and Russian governments have also been given the same label as RNZ, but RNZ argues that their editorial independence makes the application of the label on their account misleading.
To hear more about it, and receive some commentary, Andre Fa'aoso spoke to Neal Curtis, a Professor in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Auckland.
