Today we're going for real groovy and cruisey music. All to hide my animosity towards my mother, who gets to fly to Hawai'i while ill stay in New Zealand. But it all subsides as the show goes on.
It's the last day of Winter! So we celebrate with some chill tunes and good vibes. The listeners let me know what they're going to spend their cost of living payment on and we round off the show with a The Cure and Jay Z mash-up.
This week Tuva'a from Wednesday Morning Glory fills in on the True School Hip Hop Show. Aidan Fine joins me in studio where he selects some tracks he's listening to at the moment. As well as this, he performs a freestyle for us. I also showcase some great Hawaiian rap coming out of the Islands, specifically a new Anthology Album on Hawaiian History called Ho'okupu.
It's Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori, and I use this as an excuse to talk about the interconnections of Polynesian culture, specifically between Maori and Samoan languages. My friend Balamohan Shingade also comes into the studio to talk about his work in Hindustani music as well as give us a live performance.
This week on the show, the lineup for Laneway gets announced. As well as this, Willy and Arthur from No Cigar come into the studio to talk about their new album, and their upcoming tour. In between all this I play a few tunes.
The Spring Equinox has passed and Daylight Savings has begun, the road to summer begins. To celebrate, I've curated a selection of Reggae Dub tunes to vibe to. If you want to hear more of this you can head along to my spotify playlist called 'Land of the Dub'.
Another reggae dub show because we all love some chill vibes to lead us into summer. Be sure to follow my Spotify playlist 'Land of the Dub' for all things dub related.
Get ready to have a psychedelic experience on todays show where we transport you around your mind and back. We start with house and slowly get weirder from there.
