Today on the Green Desk, Bronnie speaks to Liam Prince, co-founder of Takeaway Throwaways, an organisation seeking to ban single use disposable plastic service ware for food and drink and replace them with reusable alternatives. The closure of cafes during Alert Level 4 meant that more than 20 million takeaway coffee cups that would have otherwise gone to the landfill were avoided. However, with businesses reopening under Alert Levels 3 and 2, many have been hesitant to bring in their reusable cups. Takeaway Throwaways have been vocal in dispelling hygiene myths around BYO reusable containers, and that was the topic of today’s interview.
You can Takeaway Throwaways on Facebook, Instagram, or check out their website - www.takeawaythrowaways.nz - and sign their petition to ban the use of single use plastic serviceware.

Andra, founding member, and Nik, co-creator, of a game called Sooth, joined Lillian Hanly in studio this week. They are part of a group of people who came together to do prototypes, artwork, and testing in order to get this game ready for commercial use. What is this game you say? Essentially it’s a question game with yes or no answers. The rules are very loose and you can really make the game whatever you want it to be, whether it is serious or just fun. Some of the questions go like this, Do you tolerate intolerance? Do you go by the name your parents gave you? Are you famous enough to be in the news when you’re arrested for intoxication? Is a headmaster more important than a politician? Anyway. The best way of understanding the game is to play it. So Lillian started by asking Nik and Andra how this all began and then got some fellow bFMers in the studio to play the game…
So that was Sooth! If you’re interested in playing you might want to go checkout their facebook page to find out more or get in touch with them, as well as head to their Boosted page to support the effort.
NB: Following the broadcast of this interview it has come to 95bFM's attention that the subject of this interview, Rick Giles, espouses political and historical views that the station finds particularly unsavoury. We will not be removing or editing the interview, but wish to make it clear to all listeners that 95bFM does not support or align itself with the personal politics of the interviewee. Our decision to provide Mr. Giles a platform during a week-long discussion on anti-government movements was one that, with hindsight, would not have survived greater scrutiny and vetting process. The station, its volunteers and wider associates do not wish to endorse Mr. Giles' particular brand of historical revisionism in any way, shape or form and we sincerely apologise for any concern or aggravation caused via our negligence in this case.

When thinking of strip clubs, you may have a Hollywood portrayal in your head of beautiful, long haired feminine women and men binge drinking in dimly lit clubs. Bodyhaus is an organisation that is working to challenge that. Bodyhaus is a group of queer people that have launched a campaign to make a queer strip club event. The purpose of this event would be to make a space for queer strippers to perform safely in an industry that can often ‘other’ queer bodies and even in the best of circumstances miss the mark in making those who are gender diverse feel comfortable. One of the organisers and somatic sex educator, Sarita Das, joined producer Laura Kvigstad for a chat about strip clubs in Aotearoa, how queer bodies fit into that landscape and how Sarita would love to one day perform with leg and armpit hair. Laura started off by asking about what inspired Sarita and the other organisers to campaign for this event.
The Pledgeme campaign has since ended however if you are interested in contributing to this event or finding out more you can reach out onFacebook or Instagram.
