Kia Ora, and welcome to the inaugural episode of Various Artists! Former news teamers and show cover-ers, Frances and Liam, are super excited to bring you a new platform to be in the know about arts in Tāmaki Makaurau. E whai ake nei:

We’re taking a quick trip down to Tauranga to chat about Work Out - a multi artist project taking place in the local gallery. Liam spoke to curator Serena Bentley about the overall project, as well as artists Paul Darragh and Turumeke Harrington about their individual exhibitions.
Then we celebrate the life of Aotearoa photographer Ans Westra, who passed away at the end of February. Frances talked with Athol McCredie, Curator Photography at Te Papa and David Alsop, director of Suite gallery about Ans’ life and works.

Next Thursday, the thirteenth of July, Te Karanga A Hape will be taking place across Karangahape Road, celebrating Matariki on the holidays eve and showcasing a multitude of artists from across Tāmaki Makaurau and Aotearoa as a whole. 

There are countless events going on, from markets to performances to galleries to workshops, there’s something for everyone all sticking within the theme of He Ara Matarau / Pathway of Diversity. 

To learn more, I had a chat to event organiser Anya Vitali to learn more about what we can expect.

 The AGI Open is coming up later this month at Aotea Centre, showcasing talks from over thirty global design leaders from Alliance Graphique Internationale.

This is only the second time in 25 years that AGI, a major collective of influential graphic designers from around the world, have come to the southern hemisphere and their first time in Aotearoa. 

Taking place from the 18th-19th of September, these talks will not be worth missing. Liam had a chat with organiser Dean Poole about the designers trekking down to Tāmaki Makaurau and the event as a whole.

The World Federation of Music Therapy is celebrating their annual awareness week this April.

Music therapy New Zealand in line with The World federation of music therapy is celebrating their awareness week from the 10th-15th of April.

The week’s intention is to champion potential and wellbeing through the profession of music therapy.

Nicholas spoke to Music therapist Rachel Foxell about the awareness week.

Defining the Means is a new exhibition by Lindsey de roos, showing at Window Gallery from the 2nd of August till the 3rd of September. The exhibition questions the ‘dryness’ and bureaucracy of university systems and encourages the viewer to consider a ‘wetter’ and more imaginative alternative to current exhaustive university systems.
