We had Baby Zionov up in the studio. She’s one of many artists set to appear at Loud & Proud: A Queer Music Festival which is happening at the Audio Foundation this weekend. She also released an incredible new single a couple of weeks ago that is currently sitting at number 1 on the 95bFM top 10. Today she joins me for My Morning Mixtape where we discuss her new single, Loud & Proud and the state of the local music scene when it comes to marginalised creatives.
Simon Grigg joined Hunter in the studio today. Simon is a music businessman, writer, broadcaster, publisher, and archivist. Simon has hosted shows here at bFM in the past and he is the founder of New Zealand record label Propeller Records which has contributed many albums integral to the New Zealand's musical history, including the reissue of the iconic punk collection, AK79 which has just been reissued to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of it’s initial release. He chose 3 songs from that release and gave us a rundown of it's importance.
Ryan Hendriks is a legend in the Tamaki Makarau local scene making waves for years in both solo works & groups like Badcorporation. In December 2019 Ryan let loose 'Quintessence' a 4 track EP on The Grow Room. He also teamed up with Ethan King, Brandon Rangi-Dixon & Tuhoea Tuteao for 'The Crop [Vol.1]'. Ryan joined Hunter in the studio to chat about all of this & more + played a few favourite songs and chatted about them.
