In The Weeds; Finding a Solution for Managing Our Cityscape

This episode we focus on Tāmaki Makaurau's management of vegetation. We start by discussing our history of vegetation management, discuss the use of glyphosates, thermal treatments and other innovations and address Auckland Council's plan to harmonise vegetation management across the super city.

This episode we were joined by the voices of;

Hana Blackmore - Community researcher and founder member of the Weed Management Advisory - working for environmentally sustainable and non-chemical weed management since 1996.

Charles Merfield - Non-chemical weed management scientist with a specialism in thermal weeding

Jodie Bruning - Researcher/writer; founder RITE-demands.org, trustee of Physicians and Scientists for Global Responsibility.

Jeremy Winer- Managing Director of Weedtechnics, 25 years of developing and implementing thermal weed control applications and programs.

Sarah Smuts-Kennedy - For the Love of Bees vision holder and citizen on the weed advisory group Auckland Council

Matt Kirby - Contractor and Director of Weedingtech, a thermal vegetation management company.

Jamey Holloway - Team Member and collaborator with For The Love of Bees.

Oscar Perress - 95bFM volunteer, Student and For the Love of Bees Collaborator.

This week we start right at the beginning by trying to establish what a weed is and what it means to manage them.
