the swan sits on the lake and watches the goose, but only dances upon the surface of the chilled water, tense with its idea of the goose and the goose's nihilistic bombing of the tranquility of the night.

 

it shatters the peace in the most subtle of ways and cannot help itself not to. 

 

the trout hide. citizens of a war torn era, a frenzy of activity. the day was over but its fight was not. 

 

no foglights lit the night, no lights, none but the blurred gleam in the eye the goose.
