A show with a vibe centred around a chat with Adam McGrath of the Eastern. Townes, Bob Dylan, Son Volt, Anna Tivel for some folkyness. Then new tunes from The Felons, Bohannons, Mary Battiata & Cory Brannan. A big chat with Adam about his current tour and show at the Tuning Fork on June 8th, and playing a bit of Upper Hutt Posse in his honour. ( That ain't no Hank WIlliams song ! ) And then tapering off with Some crazy old 70's rednecks, back on the protest vibe Billy Bragg and Wilco and heaps more in between.
Absolute chaos around the radio station with the university demolition/rebuild and the laneway site set up making access and parking not very practical. So rode in on my bike and raided the bFM vinyl and CD racks and played a few off the computer system as well. If you liked Border Radio in the 1980's, you're going to like this.
After a disorienting 30 seconds of floundering over the studio controls, Charlie and Adel continued to fill your Friday afternoon airwaves with some good tunes.
Today on your bFM Breakfast: What a beautiful morning; Fabian Fanboy dials in from LA and talks movies to watch at home; Dr. Kirsten Zemke brings in some debatable music; Anne O'Brien joins us to run through the Auckland Writers Festival line up; Roimata pops in to talk about Emilia, a bFM favourite in the theatre world; and Joel Bray joins us amid the Auckland Arts Festival to talk about his show Biladurang.
