We also talked abut a number of issues that are topical in Parliament at the moment, such as paid mandatory managed isolation and code of conduct for MPs. Lastly, we spoke about the government's $20 million in regional funding to tackle methamphetamine use and what that means for families and children.

The party recently announced $100 million available to Aquacorp to support offshore marine farming, and more than $1.54 million in funding to Te Komanga Marae Trust to restore the native canopy of the Kōwhairoa Peninsula Historic Reserve at the Whangaroa Harbour.

In the first week of June visual artist and Arts Foundation icon Jim Allen passed away aged 100. Allen’s installations are on display around the country and he played a significant role in art education. On VA this week we are joined in the studio by art historian and gallery coordinator at Micheal Lett, Victoria Wynne-Jones who knew Allen well to hear about his life and legacy.
Last week the Green Party announced their ‘Pledge to Renters’, a housing policy that would implement rent controls, a landlord register and a rental warrant of fitness, among other things.
Announcing the policy, co-leaders James Shaw and Marama Davidson said that in the first 100 days of a new government, the Green Party would implement this housing policy to ensure that “everyone who rents always has a safe, healthy and affordable place to call home".
