This week James and Brooke discuss some pressing topics, starting off with Ihumātao and purchasing of land through the housing fund.
They discuss whether ACT felt this was appropriate and whether the purchase could be justified.
For the second topic, they discuss COVID-19 border restrictions, primarily how New Zealand is going about easing restrictions with our Pacific neighbours.
We kick off with Pink and White Terraces, the project of NZ-via-Berlin artist PAWS+ (Aporia, The Tarts). Their first hour drips with Sehnsucht, as they dive into the influences behind their debut album. After that, we hear from Elfy, the moniker of Will Rattray (Full Moon Fiasco, Thought Creature, Cosmic Palms). Drift through an hour of kosmische house, in the vein of his recent contribution to the Zauberstab V.A. for Alicia Carrera's Lío Press.
Sister Rosa grew up surrounded by music. Her sets are purposeful and uplifting, and have seen her tapped to play with Marcellus Pittman and at some of the most soulful parties around New Zealand. She gifts us with one hour of roots music from across the globe.
After that, we get upbeat with Irish-born selector Aideen Ryan. Aideen is an avid record collector, who takes inspiration from genre-diverse champions like Andrew Weatherall and Gilles Peterson. She shares an uptempo hour that traverses disco, modern soul, and classic house, and includes recent finds from The Other Crate Record Fair.
Ep. 270 w/ a Teeth Clippers Takeover, with mixes from Emanuel and Cal.Ske.
Emanuel got a schooling in sound-system culture while living in London for two years. On his return home to Pōneke, he founded Teethclippers via a residency at Club 121. Now, with the release of the Don't Bite Your Tongue compilation, the project has grown into a fully-fledged label as well. That compilation features 14 tracks by key NZ producers like Eden Burns, KÉDU CARLÖ, Azure, and Peach Milk, with all proceeds to the Mental Health Foundation. Tonight, Emanuel channels the energy of postponed nights into a heavy, heavy mix. After that, Tāmaki DJ and future TC guest Cal.Ske (Glass Half Full) weaves his way from house through dubstep to footwork. Hit that bass boost button bb.
Kédu, otherwise known as Jess Penson, is an undeniably pivotal artist currently based in Tamaki Makaurau. Kédu has explored many different facets of her musicality throughout the years, starting off in Rnb girl group Techniclr and later finding her way into electronic music as one half of producer, DJ, and live electronic performance duo Kédu Carlö. Influenced by her eclectic taste, Kédu’s sound draws on genres such as Jazz and RnB as well as her love for Chicago/acid house, Left-field, Jersey Club and Breaks.
With the release of ‘Finally’ in 2016 Peach Milk began as a live act with a focus on immersive, ethereal dance music. After a string of live hardware shows played throughout New Zealand, the focus of the project has shifted more towards producing and DJing. Her Dj sets display broad influences, ranging from the dreamy and relaxed areas of House music to driving, percussive Techno and everything in between. Peach Milk is a project that continues to shift and transcend labels or mediums
Blind Mango Chutney rejoices once more in the 60-year legacy of Impulse! Records, curates a classy cluster of NZ jazz releases and remembers Philly guitarist Pat Martino.

This is another of our weekly segments, where Producer Alex will speak with the Deputy Leader of the ACT Party, Brooke van Velden, discussing the hot political topics of today and tomorrow and how one of our most important minor parties feels about them.
Earlier today, we chatted about the medium density residential standards (MDRS), central government legislation that will outlaw single family zoning in New Zealand and, instead, will allow more and larger houses and terraces in our suburbs, as well as the government’s announcement yesterday of 4,000 special humanitarian visas for Ukrainians with family in NZ.
