A new paper has detailed some of the common tropes used to stereotype Māori. The paper specifically focuses on an article by Bob Jones from 2018, which has widely been criticised as racist.

The government have announced a new firearms unit as the next step to regulating gun control in New Zealand. As the Royal Commission of Inquiry suggested, the unit aims to tighten and track gun ownership and violence in New Zealand, as well as work alongside the police to create safer communities. The team behind Wellington Zinefest has recently begun rolling out Local Queers - a multi-artist zine project seeing four Pōneke artists create a series of portrait minizines capturing local people in the queer community.
Artists June Moth, Arden Etoile, Mil Hampy and Jewelia Howard have all taken part in the project, capturing a mixture of people - some of whom were chosen by the artists themselves, others who were nominated by members of the community.
The zines are currently going for five dollars, with the proceeds being donated to local rainbow organisations.
