A 100% Aotearoa selection today. I played a bunch of absolute classics (imo) incl. tuuuuunes from WYNONA, MĀ, Stinky Jim and The Bard of Bollox to name just a few. We're pretty damn lucky to have mass amounts of talent in this teeny tiny country.
On a stacked and packed day on Wednesday Drive, we unfortunately have no Flicks 'n' that as Steve was in absentia, instead, however, we listened back to Sofia's interview with Freak Slug.
Jim Nothing came in to chat about some absolutely stunning tracks for What's Cooking.
Finally, we listened back to Elle's interview with Flooding, an impressive noise rock trio, based out of Kansas.
This week on Morning Glory Hunter played new songs from P.H.F., Tiny Ruins and Yaeji. For 'About Town' this week he highlighted live tracks from Rainy Weathers 2017 live to air on Freak The Sheep. He also took a dive into Bloc Partys 'Silent Alarm' album and highlighted some favourite songs ahead of their show at Spark Arena. In the second hour of the show Durham (Green Grove) came up to the studio to share some of his favourite influential tunes for this weeks My Morning Mixtape ahead of the Green Grove performance with Jonathan Bree this Friday.
Today I am joined by Laura Lee and DJ of Khruangbin ahead of their show tonight at Spark Arena! We kōrerō about some of their musical influences and their love for the natural environment. Shout out to them both for sticking with it through the fire alarm!
Step into the Universal Harmony arena, where we're kicking off a February special, replaying a championship selection of tracks that have scored big over the last ten years. Let the games begin!
Hosted by PHILLIEE, featuring the Sound of Sydney courtesy of our man Carlos Avilés.
