Current Friday Wire Producer Will Parsonson fills in for Lillian today, and the team talks science (as usual) with AUT's Allan Blackman. We touch on nazi warships using chemestry to hide, eating plastic and we wish Albert Einstein a great death-day.
Producer Lisa Boudet speaks to Liv Young, the creater of MENTAL, an online platform where New Zealanders are invited to share their experience of mental health issues.
Lillian has her weekly chat with NZ First's Tracey Martin, and they touch on oil drilling and teachers titles.
And producer Ben Webber finds out more about campylobacter with Otago University research Professor Michael Baker. What is it? How to get rid of it? How not to be contaminated by faeces when handling chicken? All the answers to the questions you never thought you'd ask.
Greg Wood 1992 to 1997, Scott Kelly 1994 to 2000 Scott Kelly and Greg Wood were primarily 95bFM "creatives" -- ie they wrote advertisements -- but their contribution went much further. Sometimes too far. They were co-creators of "the fart bank" and "the fart button", and along with "Mystery Celebrity", were hosts of the reasonably-long-running and decidedly average radio show, "The Friday Night Allen". In this episode, you can hear examples of their (ahem) "work", a classic News injection from Vas Deferens, and they ask, "Do you like chicken?" (Episode 35, Parts 1-3 of 3)
Debbi Gibbs 1983 to 1989 Unlike many of the 95bFM Historical Society alumni, Debbi DID in fact graduate - with a degree in architecture. However, she hasn't ever been an architect: instead, she managed the Straitjacket Fits & the Headless Chickens in the 80s and 90s, and and went on to manage producers - like Flood. Debbi was at the helm on b at the pivotal time when it was to broadcast throughout the year and switch to the FM frequency. *** THIS WAS THE FINAL EPISODE OF 95bFM HISTORICAL SOCIETY. 40 years = 40 interviews. Dubhead would like to thank all the participants for their graciousness; and tips his hat to EVERYBODY who has contributed to radio b since 1969. (Episode 40, Parts 1-3 of 3)
