We’re currently a week away from the Aotearoa general election, and the majority of parties still don’t actually have a clear arts and culture policy.
It’s been a bit of an apathetic mood for arts in politics, with Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown threatening to cut back the funding for our local arts centres.
We also saw only one politician show up to the APRA Silver Scrolls on Wednesday Night, and unsurprisingly it was Chlöe Swarbrick.
Thankfully, after we reached out to each major party, Chloe was also the only MP willing to chat to us about their arts and culture policy! We recorded this during Fancy New Band, so sorry about the surfy backing track.
HALFQUEEN speaks with Silver Scroll finalist JessB about the nomination of Power, from her outstanding debut album Feels Like Home. Plus, a world premiere of a new track, the HalfQueen and Pasquinel remix of BULLSEYE from 3 Nights In Amsterdam 5th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, which drops tomorrow on vinyl and digitally. Whakarongo mai nei!
Being there for each other, as we always do! Philip takes the week off to catch breath after a whirlwind wedding and then perfect honeymoon. The planet is in an interesting position at the moment with C-19 and it's great to see the conversation steering steadily towards optimism and common sense.
This episode is hosted by Zambo [from Film Splats, Pop That and generally around #bFM scene]. Thanks!! Enjoy
