Mixed bag of a few classics, brand new stuff and something that I thought was gonna be cool but ended up being actually bloody awful. But hey, you might like it and Grief Cat is still a cool name for a band. Couple of serato/dust/needle mishaps to keep us honest in there as well. Radio. Live with humans and equipment.
Elle takes over your hump day lunch time with a smattering of tunes and off the cuff musings. We hear a bit of Neil Young, Reb Fountain, Future Nobodies and some music inspired by Paloma Wool.
Kris scored some cheap 45"s at a recycling center, and finds out the hard way that he hadn't cleaned them up well enough. Plato's Retreat is brought to you by the good people at Hallertau.
Sunday the first of March: J & K are back on deck for The Swap Meet. Turns out it was a good day to be born - Oliver Sain, Willie Mitchell, Norman Connors and Harry Belafonte all blew out candles on this date, so naturally we pay our respects. We also took a moment to celebrate some fifty-year anniversaries: Dr Tree's landmark New Zealand fusion record, the Ohio Players' Contradiction, and Kool & The Gang's Love & Understanding all turning half a century old still killing. And we said farewell to Willie Colón, the South Bronx trombone legend who helped build salsa into what it is, gone this week at 75.
Fresh music from Mark de Clive-Lowe, Andrea Lombardini, Tommaso Cappelato and Larry June inside the jam too, alongside the usual gear for the weekly rummage. Press the button.
Fun wee show on the b this morning – dipping into all sorts… Tara Clerkin Trio, Horsegirl and Earl Sweatshirt & Surf Gang to name a few. Plus a whole lot more.
HUGE thanks to the sponsors of Morning Glory, The Tuning Fork!
