HALFQUEEN is on hiatus this week, so 95bFM legend Charlotte Ryan hops in the driver's seat to host Rāpare Drive. Featuring a recap of this year's APRA Silver Scrolls awards held down in Ōtautahi at the Isaac Theatre Royal, then Chris is in the studio to catch you up on the week just been for Marijuana Media, thanks to The Hemp Store. Then, Mat returns to make a delicious tipple on Cocktail Corner, thanks to Thomson Whiskey.
Joshua Worthington-Church from Exploding Rainbow Orchestra joined us in the studio to chat about their performances of Songbook Volume 4 this week. We played HINA, Reb Fountain and Dam Native as a wee taster of the incredible artists participating in this year's iteration. We featured fellow ERO vocalist Crystal Chen a little later and faves from Suzanne Kraft, RSD, Roger Robinson received deserved airtime as well.
Today on your bFM Breakfast: Zetta's on the fritz; 'Make mine a Metal Memory Monday Mike (Patton)'; Penelope talks 'eccentric women'; Jenna's already stockpiling gift ideas; Ange just wants you to look after yourself; and Sarah's lung infection can't stop the dance. Gross.
A weird one by my standards; we delve into a fair bit of black metal from over ditch with Atrocity Altar, stacks of noise/noisecore from Fusty Cunt Tapes and some 90s hiphop shit from Graveyard Records with some classic punk and industrial thrown in for good measure.
Dunno what to tell ya, mix of early noisecore from places like Brazil, the Netherlands, Columbia, Japan etc interspersed with some classic old hip-hop, a few underrated black metal jams, some classics, you get the drift by now, its just cooked shit really.
