We catch up with Meg Porteous about her Neo-Gracie show "Junture", and her billboard works around the city. Raukura Turei is on the line, speaking to her show, Te Ngau a Hine-Moana, at Corban Estate Art Centre. We catch up with Aaliyah Winter and Laura Duffy whose show at Te Uru - “Thinking About Thinking About the Future” - is due to finish soon. Winter also has a show at Parasite on K Rd!
Who goes there?! It’s Annabel and Callum, hosts of the bFM Top Ten. Tonight on the programme, after a riveting discussion with chart analyst Jonathan Pearce (that largely involved what he had for dinner) we chatted about what it was like outside today, and finished our trilogy of Glenfarclas whiskys with their 25 year old single malt. All while playing some of the biggest songs in the nation. What a triumph!
I let Sinead's passing have an effect on the show cos it affected me and I thought it'd sound good. Loretta Lynn, Joan Baez, Hurray for The Riff Raff, Dylan, Eilen Jewel, Allison Russel, Drive by Truckers and more all telling it like it is. Interview with Julian Temple and a bunch of finds out of the bFM vinyl library (Bodeans from the 1980's!) in between and then a strong finish for Ms O'Connor with the Dropkick Murphies and the song Kris Kristofferson wrote for her. What a loss.
Lucia plays some new tunes from Aoteroa and beyond, cheerful emo band, Blunt Dog, joins in studio for Fancy New Band. To finish off the show, Lucia interviews Louis O'Bryen from UK band Sorry.
Today's show takes a spacey, jangly start – with a recent find by April Magazine, 'Lost', then some psychedlic, krautrock and acid jazz – à la Alice Coltrane. We finish off the show on the CDJs with various dub techno and deep house cuts, before the remix of the day. See you next time, ka kite!
Fun and varied show today! Cycling through some neo-psychedalia with Unknown Mortal Orchestra – before the swirling ambient soundscapes of Florian TM Zeisig's new album, Planet Inc. Finished off with downtempo tracks by Nice Girl and Kalimera. Keep it on the b!
