Jenna joins us with a book that's made her feel a little hopeful in what's been a strange year. Humankind: A New Hopeful History of Human Nature by Rutger Bregman is the non-fiction that everyone is bound to hear about this year. Covering economics and philosophy, this book has received praise from Yuval Noah Harari, the author of Sapiens.
In the Eastern Mediterranean, recent confrontations over the rights to drill natural gas have threatened to reignite conflict between Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus. This conflict emerged after Cyprus’s independence in 1960 and was complicated by international interventions by Greece and Turkey on behalf of their ethnic populations on the island. Renewed Turkish interest in the access and exploitation of natural gas reserves and other energy reserves around the island have bought the conflict into a new focus with the potential of further conflict occurring. Doug Becker spoke with Aristotle Tziampiris and Nukhet Sandal about the latest standoff.

Today on a special Morning Glory, The Wire get's cancelled due to the news simply finishing! Nothing is happening anymore! It's a christmas miracle, so Pullitzer Prize losing journalists Liam and Milly get both sad and festive AT THE SAME TIME!
Christmas has come early, featuring some indie tunes of the festive nature and some skramz bangers somehow also of the festive nature! Featuring tunes from Erny Belle, Phoebe Bridgers, Reel Big Fish, and My Chemical Romance on their Yo Gabba Gabba debut. Thanks Tuning Fork!
Liam Gerrard is an artist from Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. He is interested in the relationship between darkness and beauty, and often explores this in his work.
The natural world – hydrangeas and moths in particular – has long been a point of artistic interest to Liam, whose latest exhibition, After the Garden, ‘ruminates on the inexorable passing of time, on societal concepts of beauty and desire, and on the endless variety and motion of the natural world’.
Beth had a kōrero with Liam about After the Garden, which is showing at Sanderson until August 4th.
