Back for 2020! To ease in the year Hunter kicked things off with a bunch of songs that have been simmering over summer + We listened back to some of the great tracks that Church & AP performed up at the station back in December.
$5000 has been crowdfunded for trans positive posters and stickers after an increase in anti-trans messages in the media and online. The posters, put up by over 70 volunteers feature messages such as trans is beautiful and trans women are women. Lachlan spoke with one of the organisers of the campaign, Ahi Wi-Hongi from gender minority New Zealand about it.
This piece arose from a conversation with Tracey Martin last week, where Bronwyn asked the Minster how she felt about a post of hers being shared on a Facebook group that advocates against transgender rights. What followed was a discussion of freedom of expression and when it can be reasonably limited. After that interview, Bronwyn spoke to Ahi Wī-Hongi from Gender Minorities Aotearoa to get a fuller picture of the issue, and whether it is even appropriate to call such groups feminists.
A Transgender Community Day is being held at the Ellen Melville Centre on Saturday from 12pm-5pm, in light of Transgender Week of Awareness.
