Lockdown gets us talking to Vanessa Gurung - cartoonist, zine maker and librarian. Her new zine called "Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul on Crushes" is being drawn and compiled at the moment. We also talk to Kate Bartlett about what teachers have been going through in the build up to lockdown, and what might come of the lockdown for dance and drama students. Plus the slightly scant art news :)
Good news everyone! The Beths are back with a brand new track 'Dying to Believe', plus a flash new video and the announcement of their new album 'Jump Rope Gazers' coming July 10th- phew! Tune in to hear Liz and Jonathan have a chat about it all.
This show was a fuckin' blast to make, with tonnes of new Iron Lung Records shit to get my teeth into plus the usual assortment of ancient black metal demos, and a track off the massive new Sial record that just came out on La Vida Es Un Mus. Big shoutout to my flatmate for putting me onto the Eightball & MJG tracks too.
This show was a blast, loads of new shit from Atroicty Altar in Australia, a bunch of stuff from Fuck Yoga Records in Macedonia, with the rate that dope shit is coming out plus the seemingly infinite time I've had to dive into obscurities I'm going to be very busy for the forseaable future. The show is interspersed with excerpts from one of Ray Bradbury's weirder short stories, a man ruminating on taking on the role of the reaper. Sit back, do nothing, shove this shit in your earballs.
Martin from Repairs had a chat with Rachel this morning about their come-back gig with TOOMS this friday at the Wine Cellar, plus the latest single and a new album on the horizon! Tune in and grab a ticket to the show before it sells out.
Zoë's thrilled to see some real life theatre returning. This weekend you can catch Dolphin Theatre's Death Trap, or if you're happy sticking to the screens Hamilton is arriving to Disney Plus, and as usual, National Theatre At Home brings us another classic, Les Blancs. Alongside all of these, you can take yourself on a tour of The Civic theatre. So much to do!
Steve Newall has a chat about The Boys. It comes with a strong recommendation. He also mentions Tenet, as we await an official release date for Auckland. Plus he's amped to check out Glenn Danzig's directorial debut Verotika on new streaming service Shudder.
