Differences in kind and rhythm is the second in a series of dialogue exhibitions made at Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery since 2024, for which artists from Aotearoa are paired with international artists.
Curated by James Gatt, this exhibition pairs the work of senior multidisciplinary artist Peter Robinson and Italian painter Giorgio Griffa, eliciting a considered and cross-cultural conversation between the works and their respective practices.
Together, the paintings by Griffa and sculptural forms by Robinson have shared qualities of repeated forms and movements that respond to related concepts of repetition and difference, emergence and continuum. Common threads can be seen within the works through the complex, lyrical, the sharp and soft, illustrating subtle distinctions between similar forms and difference in expression.
Sofia had a kōrero with Peter Robinson about the making of Differences in kind and rhythm.

My Friends Are Home II is the second installation of a collection of Millie Dunstall and Cheska Brown’s photographic works, currently showing at Window Gallery.
Presented on window vinyl and splashed with painted buttermilk, the show sees these semi-transparent photographs depicting the artist's friends in their flats in Tāmaki Makaurau – inviting a certain intimacy and conversation between the images and the viewer themselves. Like a time capsule, the photographs carry qualities of nostalgia and sentimentality, allowing the viewer to have insight into not only what those intimate relationships look like in the artist's lives, but also their own.
Sof had a kōrero with Millie Dunstall and Cheska Brown about the show and their collaborative practice.

Ten months after an outbreak of Campylobacter infected 5,500 people in the town of Havelock North, the first stage of a Department of Internal Affairs report has been released. Although sheep faeces has been blamed for the immediate outbreak, the local authorities, Hawkes Bay Regional Council and Hastings District Council, were also criticised for indirectly contributing.
The report cited earlier contamination events which went largely ignored, infrastructure which wasn't up to standard and a lack of communication between the two councils as the basis for their criticism. Although the second stage of the report is ongoing, the report acknowleged they had no legal basis to criticise local farmers whose sheep were most likely the cause. Instead, Producer Ben speaks with Greenpeace New Zealand's Amanda Larrson, about the effect intensive agriculutre may have had.

The UK grime rapper's career started taking off in the second half of last year with his first single coming out in Sept 2016. It now has over 12 million views on YouTube! He's since collaborated with AJ Tracey and had some of his work remixed by Drake. Impressive, considering he is a 19-year-old unsigned artist.
