For City Counselling this week Simon spoke with Waitākere City Councillor Shane Henderson about the recent report into Auckland City Council's response to the Jan 27th floods, as well as repairing infrastructure after the events. Shane also spoke about how some communities are struggling since the events. He also shared views on Auckland Transport's parking strategy. Simon started by asking Shane what he thought about the flood report from last week.
This weekend, the Auckland International Cultural Festival will be returning for its 18th year. Yesterday the Supreme Court ruled that the protected status of Ruahine Forest Park could not be revoked to allow the development of a huge irrigation and water storage scheme. Producer India spoke to Dr Ann Brower, a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management, about the issues involved in the land exchange between the Department of Conservation and the Hawkes Bay Regional Council that was needed for the development to go ahead. She also spoke to the CEO of Forest & Bird, Kevin Hague, about his reaction to the Supreme Court's decision.
