The government announced their ideal route for the new Auckland city light rail last week. The light rail is intended to connect the Auckland Airport with other parts of the city in order to improve public transport efficency. However, out of the three route options proposed the governments top choice is garnerning criticism from many with regards to it's practicality. The Public Transport Users Association was apart of the inital conversations between the government and the Auckland Light Rail Project as to what would be the best way to link the Auckland Airport with other parts of the city. Emily Bell spoke to the National Coordinator for the Public Transport Users Association about the government's light rail route choice and what other alternatives could be put in place instead.

Waitangi Day tomorrow will see political parties and their leaders from across parliament gathering to celebrate the anniversary of Aotearoa’s founding document. As this year is an election year, party leaders are keen to announce policies and set themselves apart from their political opponents.
In the leadup to Waitangi Day, the government has been met with accusations of participating in secret mineral trading talks with the United States. The talks follow the US announcing a proposed mineral trading bloc to reduce reliance on China. The government has been criticised for engaging in such talks without public knowledge, and for considering increasing mining despite the significant environmental impact.
For our weekly catchup with the Labour Party’s Shanan Halbert, News and Editorial director Castor asked about Waitangi Day, Labour’s policies for Māori this election, and the party’s take on secret mining discussions.

And then there’s Mystic Harmony’s Lovers Rock take on The Jones Girls' 'Nights Over Egypt' deep, spiritual, and epic. Add Freedom Suite 'Come Closer' to that category: a rare groove Trini disco dub with the kind of bassline that makes you look around the room for someone else who heard that. The funkier edges really pop off with Wild Fire 'The Dealer' another Trinidadian gem that’s psych-funk with fuzz guitar and heavy attitude.
Campbell keeps it moving with the glistening disco of Chantal Curtis ‘Get Another Love’ to Booker Newberry III’s ‘Love Town’, there’s that roller-skate-ready shimmer. Then off to Brasil with Alma Brasileira ‘Peixeiro’ a choro inflected samba and Dom Salvador’s ‘Barumba’, all syncopated rhythms and raw, earthy joy. On the modern tip, Cool Affair ‘Motoric Patterns (Kaidi Tatham Mix)’ slides in with some proper bruk energy: Kaidi doing what he does best.
