My last show of 2023, which concludes my 15th year at the almighty b! A huuuuuge thanks to everybody who has tuned in these last 12 months and big aroha to Ponsonby Social Club for sponsoring us! Much love team :)
π Kia ora gorgeous humans, Thursday 1-4's Eli guest hosts today's show with a selection of music from all genres and eras. There is something for everyone in this three hour package. Eli also chats to Professor Peter Lineham about recent developments in the Cathlolic's church's approach to same sex marriage for That's the Spirit.
The playlist for todays show also exists here. π
π Hi team. Today's show serves up hot opening 35 minutes of eclectic drum and bass fading into 140 tempos.
Plenty of new local music from the whole genre spectrum comes next.
Cuts old and new from abroad feature, including some tasty late 70's mexican rock.
A 2010's indie retrospective see's some music from The Shins / Youth Lagoon and Grizzly Bear later on in the show. I also almost choke myself to death live on air - that's entertaining.
Thank you for the interaction on today's show, I can't describe how nice it is to hear from listeners.
Peter Cat Recording Co @ Neck of The Woods last night was so bloody good.
π A special show for a special week. 100% Aotearoa music in celebration of NZ Music Week. The first hour explores quieter and calming sounds old and new.
Hour two I mix through a range of electronica from techno to down tempo to drum and bass and beyond.
The final hour we are joined by Thursday Drive and Monday Morning Glory host Milly as we cycle through some classics, talk coffee news and make some silly faux pas.
Thank you for supporting bFM / this show / local music, big big love.
As always the playlist is available here for streaming. If you do like anything you hear and have the means do consider supporting the artists directly. π
βNew Zealand music month was in May but Kirk still had the bug, which he got out of his system by playing a bunch of his NZ favourites (& all time favourites). Lots of older stuff, with a few new bits in there too.
Kirk's up to his usual tricks again. Starting slower, ending faster. This week celebrating 40 years since the release of 'Sade's - Diamond Life', 'The Whisper's - So Good' & 'Philip Bailey's - Chinese Wall' albums, also 50 years since the release of 'Love Unlimited's - In Heat' album. A few newer bit's, a little bit of 70's & lots of 80's. Enjoy.
π Maybe a few more servings of electronica in today's show. Some goth favourites too. A little slice of everything? Thank you for all the love, it is much appreciated and recipricated.
