95bFM Presents: 95bFM GOLD - A 50th Anniversary Celebration

We turn fifty this year (bloody hell / yr welcome) and to celebrate, we're honoured to present 95bFM Gold, a night at Auckland’s Powerstation on Friday February 15 thanks to smooth-drinking Southern Comfort & Deep Creek Brewing Company.

The show features the heavy-riffing Beastwars, Aotearoa’s landmark Original World Famous True School Hip Show (with founding hosts and very special guest MCs), longtime station favourite Coco Solid and high-energy monsters Miss June.

95bFM Gold guarantees a memorable night out, as well as an opportunity to take pride in supporting 95bFM, one of Auckland’s great champions of independent music and culture.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 15 - THE POWERSTATION

Wellington’s Beastwars came out of hibernation this year to conjure their sludge-metal spell over a sold-out national tour, delighting the faithful who live to ‘obey the riff’.

The True School Hip Hop Show has been a fixture of both the 95bFM airwaves and the Aotearoa hip hop landscape since 1993. This unique performance features original DJs Philip ‘Sir-Vere’ Bell (O.N.Z.M.), Robin ‘Base’ Paratene and Mark ‘Slave’ Williams alongside hand-picked guest MCs and current True School hosts Ev Love, GetBan and Barry Bonza. Consider yourself warned by the True School: “this won't just be retro shit!”
...And now revealing the decades-spanning collection of lyricist royalty joining them in this one-off appearance, the True School have made good on their warning: Mareko - Dam Native - SWIDT - Melodownz - Diggy Dupe - Church & AP - IMAG€  - Rei - Lukan Raisey

Coco Solid (acclaimed musician, writer and artist Jessica Hansell) has been making her mark on the 95bFM airwaves since the early 2000s. Last year was no different, with a number of high-rotate cuts on-air from both her mixtape COKES and the debut full-length from family rap ensemble Fanau Spa, of which Hansell is a member. With Coco Solid live shows being somewhat of a rarity, 95bFM can’t wait to see this constant station favourite.

No strangers to the 95bFM airwaves, Miss June’s volatile and enigmatic live show hints at what’s to come with their eagerly-anticipated debut album. Now’s the time to catch them before everyone else does.
