A recent community outbreak of Covid-19 in Melbourne has led to the suspension of the travel bubble between Victoria and New Zealand. Noah Ferguson-Dudding spoke to National MP Christopher Luxon about the future of international travel in a post-Covid world, as well as New Zealand's vaccine roll outs. They also discussed the impact of the trade war between Australia and China on New Zealand.

A recent poll has put the National Party firmly behind the Labour Party, with Labour still polling over 50%. National leader Judith Collins has fallen in the polls to 5.8%, raising a number of questions about her leadership. Noah Ferguson-Dudding spoke to National MP Christopher Luxon about the role of polls in politics and how useful they are in determining a party's direction.

 

They also discused the recent government budget which has significantly increased benefits.

Recently the National Party has accused the government of pursuing a "separatist" agenda as they promote policies such as a separate Māori Health Authority. Other parties, including the Māori Party and the Greens, have criticised National's claims for racial rhetoric. Noah Ferguson-Dudding spoke to National MP Christopher Luxon about the controversy, as well as the Treaty of Waitangi more generally.

 

They also discussed New Zealand's upcoming trade delegations with Australia and the United Kingdom.

Earlier this week, parliament passed a motion declaring China is committing human rights abuses aganst the Uyghur people. Noah Ferguson-Dudding spoke to National MP Christopher Luxon about the declaration, as part of their weekly interview. They also discussed the government's new 10-year plan to improve the national railway system.

This week, the government announced a comprehensive change to Aotearoa's healthcare structure. The 20 District Health Boards around the country will be scrapped and replaced with a centralised national system.
