Throughout history, being an 'eccentric woman' was largely only available to those born into immense privilege. Penelope asks whether it's more available to the modern (less spenny) woman and asks listeners their particular favourites. Meanwhile, Sarah predictably uses the topic as an excuse to play Björk.
Penelope brings in a special guest this morning, Marina Davis, founder of designer label, Ovna Ovich. The label plays homage to her Russian heritage, with a dedication to making environmentally and socially aware work that is still elegant and effortless. And Pennie, Mike and Marina talk their fashion pet peeves, the things that really grind their gears about Fashun.
After Penelope's last segment where we talked the wonderful world of lingerie, this week we're talking 'Y-Fronts'. Mike questions the purpose, while Tess is just confused but we're all here for Pennie's history of these interesting undergarments.
Pennie catches up with Mikey over the brassiere, after Miss Crabb started stocking la fille d'O, a somewhat groundbreaking range of lingere that caught Pennie's eye, she decided it was time to recap and educate the listeners and Mike on the history of the bra.
Summer is well and truely coming (as it does every year) and Penelope is back with us to talk about hats. But not your standard, sun-smart hat, we're talking bicornes and tricornes in all different colours and sizes. Is it time to bring this trendy number back?
Rose from Crushes joins Penelope to talk Fashun this week, and how much she loves us here on Breakfast. Awww, nice. Formly known as The Bread and Butter Letter, Rose was fed up with being mistaken for a bakery and decided to rebrand. Rose's shop on Karangahape Rd sells the second hand, and the NZ made, focusing on finding all the sustainable _stuff_.
Penelope joins Rachel in studio, with a wealth of knowledge of the community who ~collect~ Ralph Lauren Polo. The Lo-Life gang endeavour to rack the most desirable Polo items, no matter how they have to get their hands on it.
Another week, another special guest with Penelope. Woot! This week, Elizabeth Whiting catches up with Penelope and Mike about the wonderful world of theatre and costume design. Whilst currently working on La bohème, we also chat an entire cast of Santa Claus...? Very fun.
Pennie's got an exciting guest joining us, her idol, even. Kristine Crabb joins Pennie and Mike to chat about her musical inspiration, from ~romantic~ heavy metal, to house and electronic. And perhaps even some Miss Crabb for men, Mike's interested.
Although the show is lacking Penelope's presence this morning, she is never short of presents for us here on Breakfast, the interview kind, of course. Sharing with us a chat with Kathryn Wilson and Boh Runga ahead of fashion week; aww thanks Penelope!
