National: Four new monkeypox cases reported

5:00 pm on 22 September 2022

Four more cases of monkeypox have been reported today, including three in Auckland.

This brings the total number of active infections in the country to nine.

The Ministry of Health is advising people to be mindful of MPX symptoms if they are having close physical or sexual contact while travelling overseas or with people who have recently travelled overseas.

According to a recent World Health Organisation report, MPX case numbers globally peaked in mid-August, with cases in Europe and North and South America now declining.
