Sweden and Finland have signed a security deal with the United Kingdom to strengthen the defence alliance in the event of an attack.
Russia's war on Ukraine has pressured the Scandanavian countries to rethink national security and take rapid steps to bolster cooperation.
This comes after Finland leaders announced their decision to apply immediately for a NATO membership with immediate effect.
Sweden is expected to follow with a similar decision over the coming days.
The Kremlin says the countries should expect "military and political repurcussions" for their decisions to join the military alliance.
