The United States has confirmed the death of Al-Qaeda leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, who has been killed in a US drone attack in Afghanistan. He was the most wanted terrorist in the US.
Al-Zawahiri is credited as being the radical organisation's primary strategist and allegedly had a key role in attacks on the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 as well as 9/11.
Al-Zawahiri succeeded Osama bin Laden two months after his death in 2011.
Colin Clarke, research director for the global security firm, the Soufan Group, told Al Jazeera that the death of al-Zawahiri would come as a significant blow to Al-Qaeda.
